The Terras de Sicó sub-region includes the municipalities of Condeixa-a-Nova, Penela and Soure and the freguesía of Lamas of the Miranda do Corvo municipality, in the district of Coimbra; and the municipalities of Alvaiázere, Ansião, Figueiró dos Vinhos (freguesia of Aguda) and Pombal (freguesias of Abiul, Pelariga, Redinha and Vila Cã), in the district of Leiria.
In the Serra de Sicó, with its bright green hills, the predominant soils are of clay-limestone origin, with different nuances and small outcrops of schist. The climate is characterised by cold, wet winters and hot, dry summers.
Achieving a production marked by quality rather than quantity, the natural richness of the musts produced here guarantees final products of excellence.
As regards the grape varieties used in the Terras de Sicó sub-region, Alfrocheiro Preto, Baga, Bastardo, Rufete, Tinta Roriz, Trincadeira and Touriga Nacional are the most important for red grape varieties, and Fernão Pires, Rabo de Ovelha, Arinto and Cerceal for white ones.
